Could YOU be a lifeline for someone in Wareham?
Local charity Age UK North, South & West Dorset has launched an appeal in Wareham, calling for caring, community-minded people to step forward and make a real difference in the lives of older residents.
Age UK charity urgently needs volunteers in Wareham to help take people to and from essential medical appointments — and to offer a friendly face and a listening ear along the way.
Simple act of kindness
This simple act of kindness can mean the world to someone who might otherwise struggle to get to their GP, hospital, or clinic. For many older people, it’s not just about the journey — it’s about companionship and feeling connected.
Volunteering as an essential travel companion is a flexible and rewarding role. You can choose how much time you give, whether that’s once a week or once a month. Full training and supervision are provided, and all travel expenses are covered.
If you’re warm, friendly, and hold a clean driving licence, Age UK wants to hear from you.
“There’s a high demand for this service, and your help will have a huge impact on people’s lives,” says Kathy, Volunteer Coordinator for Age UK North, South & West Dorset.
