Carey Crafters support local charities with cheque presentation to Wareham Disabled and Wareham Blind Club
The Members of Carey Crafters welcomed Representatives of the Wareham Disabled Club and Wareham Blind Club, to their regular Thursday Craft Morning at the Carey Hall on the 19th February, 2026.
Cheque presentation
The occasion was to present cheques to both Charities to enable their respective Clubs to support their members. Debbie Dunford (Chairperson) and Bryan Bashford from the Wareham Disabled Club, expressed their thanks, saying that some of the £1,500 donated would be used to maintain the Clubs Mini Bus. The Adapted Mini Bus is used to transport the members to the monthly meetings, and is also used by the club members for transport to attend Medical Appointments.
Martin Adams and Rhonda Walker from the Wareham Blind Club, said they would be using the funds for a special treat for the members of their group. Rhonda mentioned that not all the Clubs members were blind but many have a visual impairment. The regular monthly get together at the Carey Hall is an invaluable way for the members to socialise.
Carey Crafters suppor local charities every year
The Carey Crafters Founders Donna Talbot and Helen Geach said that each year one or two local Charities benefitted from the donations made by the Crafters. The money is raised simply by a donation from the Crafters, if they sell an item of their work or have surplus materials, a donation is put in the donation pot. They also, host two Craft Sales each year and the proceeds from these events is donated to the chosen Charities. Helen Geach, Treasurer, herself, was amazed at the amount of money raised over the year and thanked the Crafters for their very generous donations.
