David Kemp's Petra Trek for Julia's House 2-9 November 2024

A 48 mile trek over 5 days across the Jordanian desert

David Kemp

In November Corfe resident, 78 year David Kemp will be joining a group of about 20 volunteers to tackle the Petra Trek of roughly 48 miles over 5 days across the Jordanian desert.

The trek is planned to finish at the ancient city of Petra, the monumental ancient building, carved out of the rose-red sandstone rock (‘Petra’ means ‘rock’ in Greek). Petra featured in ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’!

David is walking to Petra to raise funds for and awareness of Julia’s House Children’s Hospice in Broadstone. Julia’s House is very highly regarded for its excellent work with children with life limiting conditions and their families, throughout Dorset and Wiltshire, but relies heavily on donations to maintain the high standards of service for which it is known.

David’s fundraising target is £2,900, which he hopes to achieve by the end of August.

To help him reach his target he has published a ‘Rock Quiz’  –  on sale in The Sweet Shop and the Village Stores in Corfe Castle Square, and in the Community Library in East Street.

You can find David at the Village Hall Coffee Mornings  July 6th. He has also set up a Justgiving page for donations.
