Looking for a fun way to explore Dorset’s countryside while supporting a good cause? This September, Dorset Historic Churches Trust is inviting people of all ages to take part in its annual Ride + Stride event.
Taking place on Saturday 12 September, the sponsored event encourages participants to discover Dorset’s beautiful churches while helping to raise funds for essential repairs and conservation work.
Although many people choose to walk or cycle between churches, there are no rules on how you travel. Whether you prefer to stroll, ride, roll, horse ride, use an electric scooter or even hop on a bus, you can create your own route and explore at your own pace.
With churches across the county opening their doors for the day, it’s a wonderful opportunity to discover hidden gems, admire historic architecture and enjoy a day out with family and friends.
Money raised is shared between Dorset Historic Churches Trust and a church of your choice, helping to preserve these much-loved buildings for future generations.
His Honour David Grant, Chairman of Dorset Historic Churches Trust, said: “Ride + Stride is a wonderful opportunity to spend time outdoors, explore churches you have never visited before, and support an important cause. However you choose to take part, we’d love you to join us.”
Whether you visit one church or several, every mile travelled helps support Dorset’s historic churches and the communities they serve.
