Local Duo's Prime Time Kids Club Marathon Fundraiser!
Two familiar faces from Wareham are trading their usual routines for running shoes as they take on the ultimate endurance challenge: the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon on 26th April 2026 — all to raise vital funds for Prime Time Kids Club, a small local children’s charity.
Tracey Mead, Finance and Office Administrator at Wareham St Mary Primary School, and Jono Darling, one of Prime Time’s trustees, are both Wareham residents and keen supporters of Prime Time Kids Club. While Tracey last ran a marathon in Bournemouth over a decade ago, Jono is tackling the distance for the very first time, having built up to two half marathons in his recent training.
Both are now training hard, braving the cold, dark, and very wet winter weather, dodging puddles on every run. Tracey has recently completed a half marathon, and both hope to finish the London Marathon in around 4–5 hours. “We’ll be delighted just to cross that finish line!” said Tracey, praising the Purbeck Runners Club for their support and encouragement during her training.
Supporting local families
Prime Time Kids Club provides a lifeline for parents, offering wraparound childcare for school-aged children in a safe, welcoming, “home from home” environment. Open 7.30am–6.00pm during school holidays, and with breakfast and after-school clubs available, Prime Time helps working families manage the school day — and sometimes just gives parents a bit of “me time” to relax or shop.
The charity caters for children aged 4–12 years, offering both structured and free play in indoor and outdoor spaces. Children can explore, imagine, role-play, build, and socialise in a richly resourced environment — giving them the freedom to be children in a safe and nurturing setting.
Thanks to grants and community support, Prime Time can also offer subsidised places for families on lower incomes or facing difficult life circumstances. They take part in the HAF (Holidays and Food) programme, providing eligible children with free care and a hot meal during school holidays, ensuring every child has the opportunity to join in.
How You Can Help
All money raised by Tracey and Jono in the London Marathon will go directly to supporting Prime Time Kids Club over the coming year, helping them continue their invaluable work in the local community. You can support their fundraising efforts via their JustGiving page for the Prime Time Kids Club London Marathon 2026
