Swanage business fundraising event for Dorset Blind Association

Land and Wave Instructor Verity

Land & Wave Teams Up with Amar Latif OBE, and Dorset Blind Association for Exciting Coasteering Fundraiser

In a thrilling collaboration, Dorset Blind Association and local busness Land & Wave are set to embark on an adventurous fundraising event. Featuring Amar Latif OBE, the renowned TV presenter and public speaker. Amar, best known for his inspirational BBC documentary "Travelling Blind" with Sarah Pascoe, will experience the exhilarating sport of coasteering on the stunning Jurassic Coast

On 22nd June, Amar will be taken from Swanage Pier to Dancing Ledge by speedboat, where he will be guided through a coasteering session to demonstrate that adventure CAN be accessible to all. This daring activity involves scrambling over rocks, swimming through moving water, exploring caves, and leaping from various heights into the sea. It’s an exciting activity to try with all your senses available – let alone doing it visually impaired.

In a remarkable gesture of solidarity and empathy, one of Land & Wave’s instructors, Verity, will join Amar in the coasteering session while blindfolded to experience the adventure through his perspective. This unique challenge is designed to deepen understanding of the experiences faced by individuals with visual impairments.

“We are incredibly excited to partner with Amar Latif and Land & Wave for this unique and inspiring event,” said Samantha Baker, Community Relations Officer at Dorset Blind Association. “Amar’s adventurous spirit and commitment to raising awareness align perfectly with our mission, and Verity’s blindfolded participation represents the empathy and understanding we strive to promote.”
